For you who're a big fan of J.R.R. Tolkien and his Lord of the Rings must have been familiar with the poem riddles in this post. Yes, all below riddles were taken form Riddles in the Dark chapter of The Hobbit book. It's the part where Bilbo Baggins exchanges riddles with Gollum in the orc passages of Misty Mountains.
For you who've never read the book, don't worry. These poem riddles aren't connected with the book's plot (except for the last one), so it's still possible for you to solve them.
The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
Poem Riddle Case 021
Gollum's riddle for Bilbo:
What has roots as nobody sees,
Is taller than trees,
Up, up it goes
And yet never grows?
Poem Riddle Case 022
Bilbo's riddle for Gollum:
Thirty white horses on a red hill,
First they champ,
Then they stamp,
Then they stand still.

Voiceless it cries,
Wingless flutters,
Toothless bites,
Mouthless mutters.
Poem Riddle Case 024
Bilbo's riddle for Gollum:
An eye in a blue face
Saw an eye in a green face,
"That eye is like to this eye"
Said the first eye,
"But in low place,
Not in high place."
Poem Riddle Case 025
Gollum's riddle for Bilbo:
It cannot be seen, cannot be felt
Cannot be heard, cannot be smelt.
It lies behind stars and under hills,
And empty holes it fills.
It comes first and follows after,
Ends life, kills laughter.
Poem Riddle Case 026
Bilbo's riddle for Gollum:
A box without hinges, key, or lid,
Yet golden treasure inside is hid.
Poem Riddle Case 027
Gollum's riddle for Bilbo:
Alive without breath,
As cold as death;
Never thirsty, ever drinking,
All in mail, never clinking.
Poem Riddle Case 028
Bilbo's riddle for Gollum:
No-legs lay on one-leg,
Two-legs sat near on three-legs,
four legs got some.
Poem Riddle Case 029
Gollum's riddle for Bilbo:
This thing all things devours:
Birds, trees, beasts, flowers;
Gnaws iron, bites steel;
Grinds hard stones to meal;
Slays king, ruins town,
And beats high mountain down.
Poem Riddle Case 030
Bilbo's riddle for Gollum:
"What have I got in my pocket?"
Well, you might not get this one if you haven't read the book. I'm sorry that I have to put this one, as there are no other poem riddles from Riddles in the Dark chapter.
The poem riddles in this post might be not that difficult to solve, but they serve as a tribute for J.R.R Tolkien, one of the best writers and poets the world has ever known.
