Lisa gave Megan as many dollars as Megan started out with. Megan then gave Lisa back as much as Lisa had left. Lisa then gave Megan as back as many dollars as Megan had left, which left Lisa broke and gave Megan a total of $80.00. How much did Lisa and Megan have at the beginning of their exchange?

Answer:

Lisa had $50 and Megan had $30.

The marathon man timed himself and found out that if he wore a bright white outfit he ran 20 miles in 80 minutes but when he wore a dark outfit he ran 20 miles in one hour and twenty minutes. What does this mean for his next race?

Answer:

Absolutely nothing as 80 minutes equals an hour and twenty minutes.

Two planes take off at the same exact moment. They are flying across the Atlantic. One leaves New York and is flying to Paris at 500 miles per hour. The other leaves Paris and is flying to New York at just 450 miles per hour.Which one will be closer to Paris when they meet?

Answer:

They will both be the same distance from Paris when they meet!

How many 9's are there between 1 and 100?

Answer:

20 9's.
Note: This is a tricky riddle that often used as a question for psych test, to examine someone's logic and thoroughness. Many people answered only 9, as they only counted the numbers 19, 29,...89, 99. While most people answered 19, as they only counted 99 as a single 9, not two.

1113213211. After the first line, each line describes the previous line as follows:
1 (one 1, can be wrote as 11)
11 (two 1, can be wrote as 21)
21 (one 2 and one 1, can be wrote as 1211)
1211 (one 1, one 2, two 1, can be wrote as 111221)
and so on...

Math Riddle Case 006

You have a barrel of water and you need to measure out just one gallon. How do you do this if you only have a three-gallon container and a five-gallon container?

Answer:

Fill the 3 gallon container with water and pour it into the 5 gallon container. Then fill the 3-gallon container again and keep pouring it into the 5-gallon container till the latter is full to the brim. One gallon will be left in the 3-gallon container.

Complete the sequence: 1=3, 2=3, 3=5, 4=4, 5=4, 6=3, 7=5, 8=5, 9=4, 10=3, 11=?, 12=?

Answer:

6. That is the number of letters in the spelling of each number! (One=3, Two=3, Three=5, ...)

If you go to the movies and you're paying, is it cheaper to take one friend to the movies twice or two friends to the movies at the same time?

Answer:

It's cheaper to take two friends at the same time. In this case you would only be buying three tickets whereas if you take the same friend twice you are buying four tickets (including for yourself).

Answer:

Math Riddle Case 010

How can you add eight 8’s to get the number 1,000 only using addition?

Answer:

888 + 88 + 8 + 8 + 8 = 1000
